Description On December 5, 1903, Elder Lewis C. Sheafe organized the Peoples Seventh-day Adventist Church. It was the result of a long tent meeting crusade. Its membership consisted of 45 members. Services were held in the True Reformers Hall, 12th and V Streets, NW. Under the leadership of Elder Sheafe, who was known for his fiery evangelistic meetings and practical business sense, Peoples was closely observed by the denomination's church leaders. In 1904, Elder Sheafe petitioned to move the congregation to a larger site. In 1905, it had a financial worth of fifteen hundred dollars ($1500). The membership had grown to a 130 members.
